Life never waits until you’re ready—and Episode 112 of The Lost & Found Podcast is my most honest reminder of that truth.
This is a solo episode I recorded from the middle of a real-life season: family stress, caregiving realities, aging, and the kind of perspective shift that sneaks up on you when you’re watching someone you love decline. It’s not a “cheer you up” episode. It’s a ground you episode. A “don’t let your life pass you by” episode.
Below are the key highlights and the most important lessons:
If you’re the person who’s “always holding it together,” Episode 112 is for you.
In this season, my family has been dealing with the emotional whiplash that comes with aging and memory changes—good days, hard days, and the quiet grief of watching someone you love become less independent. Caregiving doesn’t just change schedules. It changes relationships. It exposes old wounds. It puts pressure on the strongest people in the room.
My biggest caregiving lesson:
You can love people deeply and still feel overwhelmed by them. You can show up and still need space. You can be grateful for your family and still feel exhausted by the dynamic.
If you’re carrying guilt because you’re not handling it “perfectly,” hear me: this isn’t a performance. It’s a human experience—and you’re allowed to feel all of it.
Takeaway you can use today:
Ask yourself: “What’s one boundary I can set that protects my nervous system without abandoning the people I love?”
Even a small boundary can keep resentment from becoming the biggest obstacle.
This is the part of the episode that hit me like a lightning bolt: time is going to move forward—no matter what.
It’s easy to believe you’re “behind,” or that you missed your moment, or that you need to wait until life is calmer to take your leap. But calm isn’t guaranteed. Readiness isn’t guaranteed. And the “perfect season” is often a mirage.
My biggest lesson for anyone feeling stuck:
Life keeps “life-ing.” If you don’t choose forward, time will choose it for you. That doesn’t mean you need to blow up your life overnight. It means you need to stop outsourcing your future to a fantasy version of “someday.”
Takeaway you can use today:
Pick one door you’ve been circling—one decision, one application, one conversation, one habit—and take the smallest possible step toward it in the next 24 hours. Because momentum doesn’t come from clarity. It comes from movement.
While I was traveling in Colombia in December 2025, I saw a young woman with an intriguing tattoo that read: “Life never waits until you’re ready.” It became the anchor for everything I’ve been reflecting on lately.
Here’s the truth most of us don’t want to admit: we keep waiting for a feeling that may never arrive.
“When I’m less anxious, I’ll start.”
“When my life is more stable, I’ll change.”
“When I’m more confident, I’ll go for it.”
But ready isn’t something you feel. Ready is something you choose.
My biggest lesson about regret:
At the end of life, most people won’t wish they answered more emails or played it safer. They’ll wish they protected what mattered—relationships, meaning, joy, integrity, peace. And if you’re reading this with that sinking feeling in your chest, I want you to remember what I said in the episode: “You are always one decision away from a completely different life.”
Takeaway you can use today:
Write down the one thing you don’t want to regret one year from now. Then ask: “What decision would my future self thank me for making this week?”
Here are the core “pocket truths” from this episode—simple, but not easy:
Time moves forward. Don’t let it walk right past you.
Family seasons can be brutal. You’re allowed to struggle and still be strong.
Regret is a teacher. Let it clarify what matters—then act accordingly.
Ready is a choice. Perspective is a choice too.
One decision can change everything. Your life isn’t over because you’re overwhelmed.
If this blog hit a nerve, the full episode will go deeper—with the nuance, emotion, and real-time reflections that don’t fit on a page.
And if you know someone navigating family health changes, identity shifts, or that “what am I doing with my life?” spiral—send this to them!
