Episode 20: On this week’s episode, Amanda chats about how important it is to examine your internal narratives because how you speak to yourself shapes who you are and your decision making. We chat about struggling with our internal storytelling, and how upsetting it can be to see how negative or warped your “internal reality” can be. Amanda discusses all the things she learned from her research about the author, psychotherapist, and TED speaker Lori Gottlieb. In her TED Talk: How changing your story can change your life, Dr. Gottlieb explains we are unreliable narrators of our own lives and that depression can distort our view of ourselves and our stories we tell. But the good thing is… we can recognize this failure and adjust! Also, EVERYONE is bad at it, so you’re not alone in the struggle.
